Members of the Website are assured that UGM and its service providers will never trade or sell their personal information and no contact information will ever be made available publicly on the Website by UGM.
When you sign up as a Member at the Website, you must provide your name, email address and create a password. Users can tell us more about themselves by providing more detailed information using their own private user account ('My Account'). The user's contact information may be used by UGM to contact the visitor but is never made public.
When you donate, you can elect whether you want your name and/or your donation amount displayed. When tax receipts are issued, UGM is required to maintain certain donor information on file to be compliant with law, such as your full name and mailing address. We only use your payment information (such as a credit card number and expiry date) for the purpose of processing your donation via Beanstream Internet Commerce Inc., a recognized and secure online gateway provider but this information is not stored at the Website. To find out more about the security of your payments, please read our Security Policy.

Credit Card and other Sensitive Data
Even though our systems only allow access to authorized staff, we do not store any credit card or sensitive payment information in our databases. We don't even have access to cardholder data related to recurring donations because these are stored with the payment gateway operators as "secure payment profiles".
All data entry forms requesting confidential information (such as payment information) on the Website utilize the Internet security protocol known as Secure Sockets Layer ("SSL"). This is a certification and encryption technology designed to ensure sensitive data is kept as safe as possible when using the Internet. For example, Member Account information is stored using this secure format and is only accessible using your user-name and password. You can access your information and change your password by logging in and clicking on 'My Account'. It is the responsibility of all users to keep their password secure at all times to avoid unauthorized use of your the Website account.
In general, you can know that a webpage you are viewing is secure when your browser's (URL) address bar shows a website address that starts with "https" (instead of "http"). A 'closed padlock' symbol may also be displayed either at the end of the Address Bar or at the bottom right of your browser.
If your browser doesn't support SSL technology, you will receive an error message when trying to access our SSL page.
